[birdhouse image]
This box is in the shape of an old man, his mouth serving as the opening for birds. This remarkable work of art is not representative of the 19th century peasant life-styles. The research workers of the Historical Museum discoviered that the maker of the box, peasant Vasily Savinov, was the maker of many wooden sculptures and household utensils representing human figures, both sculptural and in relief. Quite a few of them were received by the Historical Museum in 1895. Nest have been preserved in the box.
